This Sunday’s Staff Spotlight features Jessica, a star tutor on the Teacher Time To Go Team!

Jessica is a teacher in the Lower Merion School District.  She is currently in Graduate School working towards her Masters in Education and her Reading Specialist Certification.  Jessica is a certified K-4 Teacher.  Her area of tutoring expertise includes Early Childhood literacy and K-4 Math.

Where are you originally from? Where do you live now?
Havertown and Havertown, born and raised.  I love staying close to friends and family.

What is your current teaching role?
I am currently in graduate school working towards my Masters of Education and Reading Specialist Certification.  Additionally, I work full time as an Instructional Aid in Lower Merion School District. I also am a building substitute teacher for Elementary and Special Education K-4. 

What do you love most about teaching?
I love recognizing and identifying the unique learning styles of each student and findings ways to differentiate and help them achieve their goals! I know that all children learn differently so being able to have patience is crucial to helping them succeed.

What is one thing you can’t live without?
My glasses.  Weather it be reading, graduate school work, or just relaxing watching television, they are with me all the time.

What are your 3 favorite activities to do when you’re not teaching?
I enjoy spending in summers in Avalon with my friends and family. I love to work out. Recently, I have gotten into Body Attack classes at the gym and they are amazing. My favorite person to spend time with my sister.

Have you ever binge watched a tv show?
The OC. Yes, an oldie but a goodie. Everything about that show is amazing.

If you could go anywhere tomorrow, where would it be?
Jamaica. I love the sun and warm weather. There is nothing better than packing up, getting on a plane, and escaping reality with a good book.

What is a favorite tradition you have?
Spending summers down the shore.

Who is your biggest inspiration?
Jenifer Shemtob – the Founder of Teacher Time To Go. She gives me the best advice, keeps me organized, and inspires me to be the best I can be.

What advice do you have for kids struggling at school?
Always be proactive with work and ask for help when you need it! Teachers are here to help!
