What is your name?
Brett H

Where are you originally from? Where do you live now?
Originally Absecon NJ, currently living in University City in Philadelphia. Member of the University of Pennsylvania’s Student Athlete Tutoring Program.

What do you love most about teaching?
Transferring my excitement and enjoyment of learning material to others students who may have a different perspective. I enjoy making the information meaningful to them. When everything clicks to them, it’s a proud moment to me.

What is one thing you can’t live without?
Music. I love music every waking moment of the day. Apple music is what I typically listen to. I definitely have an eclectic taste in music.

What are your 3 favorite activities to do when you’re not teaching?
Rowing – I was on the University of Pennsylvania’s Men’s Heavy Weight Crew Team and still love to row whenever I can.  Being active is extremely important to me. I love playing sports with friends. And last, living and exploring Philadelphia every chance I can get.

Have you ever binge watched a tv show?
Ofcourse,..who hasn’t? And that’s tough one! Some of my favorites include Arrested Development and The Office. I love sitcoms. And for drama -Breaking Bad.

If you could go anywhere tomorrow, where would it be?
Hawaii. I’ve been there in the past it’s super relaxing, quiet and peaceful, which is a total change from the fast pace East Coast lifestyle.

What is a favorite tradition you have?
On Christmas Eve, my family and I get together and we partake in Polish tradition called Wigilia. We all go to an old church, actually a huge cathedral. It’s an incredible moment to get everyone together.

Who is your biggest inspiration?
My former high school rowing coach – Stan Bergman. He coached me throughout high school and is currently the chief of VCBP. He’s an inspiration to everyone he meets and I am so lucky to be inspired by him.

What advice do you have for kids struggling at school?
Practice makes perfect and investing the time now will pay off in dividends later!
