Where are you from?

I am from Montgomeryville, Pennsylvania.

Where/what are you currently teaching?

I am currently teaching academic and applied biology at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School.  I love the challenge of the higher order math and science related courses.

What are 3 words to describe you?

Energetic, confident, and giving. I am very upbeat and full of energy, which comes in handy being a teacher to sleepy high schoolers at 7:30 in the morning! My positive energy is definitely one of the first things that others notice about me. In addition to being energetic, I am confident. I am confident in myself and in my work! My confidence comes from years of hard work and determination, and I am proud of that! Giving is the last word I would use to describe me. I am a very giving individual, hence my career. It gives me happiness and joy giving to others in any way that they may need that I am capable of.

If you could learn any skill/hobby what would it be?

If I could learn any skill it would be to play the guitar, specifically finger plucking. I used to play in high school, but nothing serious. I taught myself how to play different chords, sang along, and hand a lot of fun! As time passed and I moved away for college, I stopped playing. I absolutely love music and playing guitar is something that I still think about and long to do.

Tell us something that may surprise us about you!

I have a degree in Psychology in addition to my teaching certification in biology! I absolutely love the field of Psychology, and when I was in college I could not choose between Biology or Psychology, so I chose both!

If you have 30 minutes of free time, what do you do?

Relax. I know this is a very cliché answer, however, I am always on the move or doing some type of work. Thirty minutes of quiet time to myself to just sit down and kick my feet up sounds like paradise to me!

What is the best place you’ve traveled to?

The best place that I have traveled to was to London, England in 2018. My family, boyfriend, and I attended the London Games football game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Jacksonville Jaguars. We toured all over London and saw amazing sites such as Tower of London, the Crown Jewels, the changing of the guard outside of the Buckingham Palace, and the Churchill War Rooms. My favorite stop was the Westminster Palace where Charles Darwin is buried. As a lover of all thing’s science, I was in absolute awe. I may have stood at his grave for over thirty minutes just taking in the absolute beauty of the experience I was living.  In addition to all these sights, we also visited friends who live right outside of London! Truly once in a lifetime trip.

If you could spend time with anyone who would it be?

My grandfather. My pop-pop passed away during my sophomore year of college. At this point in my education, I had not yet decided that I wanted to be a teacher. It would not be for another four years that I actually took action towards this dream of mine. My grandfather was also a teacher, and this is something that we never got to talk about. I would love to sit down with him and hear all about his experiences. Although I will never be able to tell my grandfather myself that I pursued the amazing career of being an educator, I know he knows and is proud of me. J

What advice do you have for kids struggling in school?

Ask for help!!! As teachers, it is our absolute pleasure to help you. I understand, from a student’s perspective, that it can be hard to approach your teacher; but trust me, we would rather you speak up and ask for help than struggle!
