Meet Jacques!

  • I am from San Angelo, Texas.
  • Where/what are you currently teaching?
  • I am currently teaching substitute teaching at all elementary and middle school levels in Northern Philadelphia.
  • If you could learn any skill/hobby what would it be?
  • If I could learn any skill, I would get better at mathematics.
  • Tell us something that may surprise us about you!
  • I am headed to Minneapolis, MN in the fall to pursue a J.D.
  • If you have 30 minutes of free time, what do you do?
  • When presented with any amount of free time, I read or run.
  • What is the best place you’ve traveled to?
  • My two most memorable travel stories are when I saw the Northern Lights in Iceland, and spent three months living in Terengganu, Malaysia.
  • How do you spend your summers?
  • I will spend the Summer reading and running.
  • If you could spend time with anyone who would it be?
  • I would spend time with my family if given the opportunity to spend time with anyone.
  • What advice do you have for kids struggling in school?
  • School can be difficult – it’s important to find how you learn and what you are interested in. After you know those two things, pursue your interests in the way that is best for you.

Jacques is an Elementary and Middle School tutor on our team. Jacques graduated from Oberlin College and was accepted to the Fulbright Program as an English Teacher in Malaysia. During his time in Malaysia, he worked with students in grades 3-6 to increase their English speaking, writing and literacy skills. Jacques’ diverse experiences provide a unique perspective when teaching and working with children.
